UNIVERSITY COURSES

There will be significant changes in higher education in the UK in 2012/13. Although these changes are likely to have a range of positive implications for the student body as a whole, such as greater institutional accountability; the most notable change for individuals will be the increasing cost of tuition. In the face of these changes, the College is committed to offering high quality University programmes at reasonable prices.
The College aims to support its students to achieve truly life-changing awards. All of our programmes, particularly our foundation degrees, have a strong vocational edge and are designed to give our graduates the best possible chance to succeed in increasingly tough job markets. Our offer is also flexible, alongside traditional 3 year degrees, we also offer a range of two year programmes, BA top ups and professional qualifications. A large number of our programmes are also available in part time modes for those working alongside study.
We are proud to be seen as the ‘Local University’, providing progression opportunities from our Further Education (FE) courses, as well as the opportunity to gain a Higher Education qualification from one of our respected partners: the University of Greenwich, the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University. In 2010 the College merged, enhancing our offer of Higher Education courses, allowing us to provide a range of programmes from our Ashford and Tonbridge campuses, and teacher training from our Folkestone campus.
The College currently has around 800 full and part-time Higher Education students, making K College one of the largest FE colleges to offer HE programmes in the UK. These are exciting times at the College and we encourage you to come and see for yourself the benefits that the merger brings to education in your local community; the opportunities of an expanded geographical area, stability of a larger organisation and fresh approach to learning.
WHAT K COLLEGE CAN OFFER YOU
• Excellent study programmes, based locally. You can study for a Higher Education qualification in modern surroundings, at one of three campuses across Kent.
• A wide range of professionally relevant programmes. These qualifications give our students an excellent opportunity to compete in increasingly tough job markets. This includes progression routes to full Degrees for many of our HND and Foundation Degrees. You can also top up to a full Degree with other partner universities. The College also offers a range of professionally accredited qualifications.
• Affordable qualifications. The College is committed to offering high quality teaching and learning experiences at competitive prices. For example, a full time student studying year 1 of a qualification with University of Kent from 2012/13 will pay £5,500.
• Smaller class sizes. This means that you will get close support from lecturing staff and regular contact with your personal tutor.
• Inspiring and effective teaching. Our lecturers have notable industry links and excellent, up-to-date subject knowledge, as well as extensive teaching experience.
• Courses for adults who want to gain further qualifications and a number of part-time routes for students who want to complete a course alongside work.
PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
As well as University programmes, the College offers a wide range of professional courses that give you the chance to improve both your higher level skills and your career options. These vary in length from a few weeks to a year and are part-time studies during evenings and weekends, enabling you to work while you study. In many cases, you can take a university programme unit individually, allowing you to enhance your professional development in your chosen field or build up credits towards a full degree level qualification.
