AM2 (Achievement Measurement) Test
Course Code: 3626
The Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) test is based upon the requirements detailed in the National Occupational Standards for the Electrotechnical Industry and it reflects the changes in current working practices including changes due to technological advances, building regulations, codes of practice and other associated standards.The test will be a mandatory unit for advanced apprentices in the 3rd or 4th year of the new City & Guilds 2357-23 Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings & Structures) qualification.
Any individual at the same level who needs the test for industry recognition can also apply.
Course Content:
The Achievement Measurements 2 (AM2) test consists of 4 assessment areas:
- Section A Practical installation (7.5 hours)
- Section B Inspection and testing of the installation (3.5 hours)
- Section C Fault finding (2 hours)
- Section D Online theory assessment (1 hour)
- Lighting and power circuits
- A three-phase distribution board and sub circuit
- A central heating / sustainable energy system
- A safety services circuit and device
- A data cabling system
A self-assessment checklist is required to be completed before the assessment can be undertaken and can be emailed to the candidate in advance.
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must hold a City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 Electrotechnical Technology and be working towards the City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 and either the City & Guilds 2356 Level 3 Electrotechnical Services, the new City & Guilds 2357-23 Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings & Structures) or equivalent qualification.Career Options:
It will be necessary to pass this assessment before the Joint Industry Board (JIB) grant Electrician Status to an individual applying to the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme.Successful candidates completing their Level 3 may be interested in the City & Guilds 2391 Inspection, Testing and Certification qualification which is required for progression to Approved Electrician status within the JIB Electrotechnical Certification Scheme.
