School Partnerships (14-16)
K College, is able to offer 14-16 year olds a wide range of vocational courses across our five sites located in Dover, Folkestone, Ashford, Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge. The courses enable students to study a work-related subject that may not otherwise be available at school. Students generally attend college for one day a week.
We have Level 1 and 2 courses in Hair and Beauty; Childcare; Travel and Tourism; Retail; Sport; Catering and Hospitality; Vehicle Maintenance and Construction.
Achievement rates for these courses are very high and last year at our Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells sites over 97% of students successfully completed their course. At our Folkestone and Ashford sites our Young Apprentices achieved 100% in courses in Motor vehicle, Plumbing and Carpentry and Joinery. Progression post 16 is also very high with over 90% of students progressing to employment, further education or apprenticeships.
The College also works with Connexions to help post 16 students make informed choices on their futures.
We are committed to working with secondary schools across the region, cementing existing partnerships and forming new ones. In addition to our provision at our college sites, we are keen to explore opportunities to deliver teaching and learning within schools.
The College also offers progression opportunities for sixth form students. We have a comprehensive Higher Education offer as well as courses for students planning a gap year.
We are expanding our partnerships with primary schools. We regularly hold taster sessions where year 6 children can experience the college environment.
