Who are we?

A friendly support team who include:

Teacher of the Deaf

The Teacher of the Deaf works closely with the coordinator and students. They provide additional support in many different ways including audiology, exam concessions, assessment and language support.

Communication Support Workers (CSWs)

We have a team of 14 experienced CSWs, many of whom have the Edexcel CSW qualification. The CSWs are trained to match the individual needs of deaf students. As a large team we can provide a wealth of skills, knowledge and support strategies.

What does the Deaf Centre do?

Through an individual assessment, the deaf centre provides a range of support packages. The types of support include:BSL signer up to CACDP NVQ3.

• Note taking
• Modified teaching materials
• Transcribing of videos
• One to one tutorials
• Signed Supported English (SSE)

We also have a good working relationship with different departments across the campus. This enables us to discuss lecture materials and content. Due to this good working relationship we are also able to raise deaf awareness throughout the College. If you are interested please feel free to arrange a visit, have a look around and a chat.
