Duration : 2 years

This course can lead to employment opportunities in the leisure and fitness industry, sports development and coaching or progression to higher education.

This course consists of 18 different units taught over two years. They include:
- Principles of coaching
- Skill acquisition
- Nutrition
- Ftness testing
- Sport and exercise
- Psychology
- Sports injuries
- Anatomy and physiology.

Functional skills of English and maths are a key part of the course.

You will be assessed by written assignments, verbal and visual presentations and practical assessments. The ability to work as part of a team and on an individual level is necessary.

Please note that you will be required to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier for this course.

Additional costs for kit and trips will be discussed at interview.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants need five GCSEs (grade A*-C) including PE, English, maths, science, I.T. or the relevant Level 2 (at Merit/Distinction) and will be interviewed.

Career Options:

After you have successfully completed the course, you can progress onto university courses such as a Sports Science degree.
