Course Aim:

On completion of the training, successful candidates will be able to understand more about dementia and its causes, signs and symptoms and recognise that dementia affects people in different way. They will be able to understand how a person-centred care approach can make a difference to the care provided and identify what specialist care a person with dementia may require. They will think of ideas and methods that can be used to improve the well-being of people with dementia.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To provide a practical and thought provoking introduction to dementia care and provide ideas to help meet the needs of individuals in care
  • Look at what the experience of dementia may be like for those who have it, both physically and emotionally
  • Consider how to communicate effectively with people with dementia and how to understand their needs and behaviours
