NEBOSH Construction Certificate NCC2

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety is established as a leading health and safety award for the construction industry. The qualification is aimed at supervisors, managers and CDM co-ordinators within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely. It is likely to prove useful for those concerned with the management of buildings who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely. It is also appropriate for supervisors and managers working in other industries such as utilities, and even broadcasting, where temporary workplaces are a feature of their activities. To gain this qualification you will need to complete NGC1, NCC1 and NCC2.The qualification meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). It is accredited at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework (NQF) by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England. Students successfully completing the full qualification will be awarded a certificate with the accredited title of the qualification: NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
Course Content:
The qualification covers a broad range of construction hazards and the means by which they can be controlled. It includes the main legal requirements relating to construction work and enables students to undertake effective safety inspections on a construction site. The qualification has been unitised and the content revised in line with the new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007. It is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately:
- NGC1 Management of Health and Safety. This unit is offered separately by the College under the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health qualification.
- NCC1 Managing and controlling hazards in construction activities.
- NCC2 Construction health and safety practical application.
- NGC1 Management of Health and Safety will consist of the following elements:
- Foundations in health & safety
- Policy
- Organising for health & safety
- Promoting a positive health & safety culture
- Risk assessment
- Principles of control
- Monitoring, review and audit
- Incident and accident investigation
- Recording and reporting
- Construction Law and Management
- Construction activities, hazards and control
- Movement of people and vehicles hazards and control
- Manual and mechanical handling hazards and control
- Work equipment hazards and control
- Electrical hazards and control
- Chemical and biological health hazards and control
- Fire hazards and control
- Physical and psychological health hazards and control
- Working at Height hazards and control
- Excavation work and confined spaces hazards and control
- Demolition hazards and control
Entry Requirements:
In order to achieve the full qualification, candidates must have already passed unit NGC1 from the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.Career Options:
