The engineering sector continues to suffer from a skills gap and needs to keep up with rapidly developing technologies. This course has been designed to give new entrants to the engineering sector the underpinning knowledge and specific skills needed to meet the needs of modern engineering industries.The course focuses on developing practical skills and preparing students for progression to a related Level 3 course, such as the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma offered by the College.
Subjects studied include:
Working Safely and Effectively in Engineering
Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
Electronic Devices and Communication Applications
Electronic Circuit Construction
Functional skills of English and maths are a key part of this course.
You will be set assignments and assessment will be ongoing through the course.
Entry Requirements:
You need at least four GCSEs at grade D or above or a relevant Level 1 qualification (with Merit or Distinction) to apply. All applicants will beinterviewed and should demonstrate an interest in the subject.
Career Options:
Upon successful completion with an overall Merit or Distinction you may apply to progress onto the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Level 3 BTEC Diploma. Progression onto an Advanced Apprenticeship or into employment is also possible.Course Starting: Friday 07 Sep 2012 - Full Time - Tonbridge
