Children and Young People's Workforce - Level 3 Diploma (CACHE)

This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working unsupervised with children and young people. The qualification gives you occupational competence to work in a range of settings dependent on the pathway completed.You will need to complete a number of mandatory units including:
- Promote communication
- Engage in personal development
- Promote equality and inclusion
- Principles for implementing duty of care
- Understand child and young person development
- Promote child and young person development
- Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people
- Support children and young people's health and safety
- Develop positive relationships with children, young people and others involved in their care
- Working together for the benefit of children and young people
- Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people
In addition Optional Units will be completed depending on the pathway chosen
The College will arrange a variety of work placements throughout the year and there may be the opportunity of undertaking a Paediatric First Aid Course.
Functional skills in English and Maths are a key part of the course.
All units are internally assessed and methods used include:
- Interpretation of knowledge from direct observation of practice in the workplace
- Written assignments
- Learners own plans and written records
- Optional task set by CACHE
- Professional discussion
- Reflection on own practice in real work situations
This course can also be studied part-time for those in employment in early years settings, childrens residential services or those working as foster carers.
Entry Requirements:
16 - 18 year olds - you will need a suitable Level 2 qualification - a Grade B from the CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Child Care & Education or a Pass from the Level 2 QCF qualification or five GCSEs at grade A* to C including English and Maths. All applicants will be interviewed and additional assessments may be carried out at that time. You will be required to undergo a CRB check and the outcome may affect work placements.19 + year olds - must be working within th early years sector and ideally have Maths and English at Level 2 - you will be required to attend interview.
Career Options:
You can progress into employment or to the Level 3 Extended Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce, which carries UCAS points enabling progression to Foundation Degrees or other Higher Education courses or to a relevant Foundation Degree.
