Duration : 2 yearsThe Foundation Degree in Early Years has received DfES and Sure Start recognition and will open the doors to a wide range of future career opportunities in early years.
Covering current theoretical perspectives on early years education and care, the course has been specifically designed for students who are currently working in or those who have
aspirations to work in an early years setting at senior practitioner level.

- Professional Practice
- Working as part of a Multidisciplinary Team
- Children and Families
- Learning and Development through Play
Choose from optional courses related to the curriculum at Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.
- Professional Practice 2
- Safeguarding Children
- Birth, age 5
- Personal and Professional Development 2 (Specific Route Project)
All assessment methods will be closely linked to working practice.
Entry Requirements:
You should have a Level 3 qualification in a related area and employment with children, paid or voluntary, for at least two days a week.Some direct entry places are available if you have at least two A-Levels and can demonstrate a commitment to working with children. You will be asked to attend an interview.
Career Options:
The qualification can, after a bridging programme, allow entry to the final year of several University of Greenwich degrees. These include:BA (Hons) Childhood Studies
BA (Hons) Early Years with EYPS
BA (Hons) Education Studies
BA (Hons) Social Care
It also provides a path to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) via the Registered Teachers Programme (RTP). Successful completion improves your prospects of career progression, with roles such as a senior early years practitioner, centre manager and early years teacher possible.
