Duration : 1 yearThis course is intended for those who wish to work in the catering industry as chefs, and builds on the skills developed on the Level 1 VRQ. It gives a broad range of knowledge, including:
- Investigating the catering and hospitality industry
- Food health and safety awareness
- Healthier foods and special diets
- Kitchen operations costing and menu planning
- Applying workplace skills
Functional skills of English, maths and ICT are a key part of this course.
Assessment is by assignments, and theoretical and timed practical tests.
Please note that you will be required to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier for this course.
Entry Requirements:
You need to hold the Level 1 VRQ or NVQ in a relevant subject or have relevant industrial experience.Career Options:
You can progress onto a the BTEC Extended Diploma in Hospitality, a Level 3 VRQ/NVQ or an Advanced Apprenticeship in a related subjectarea. You could also enter employment, perhaps as a Chef de Partie in a kitchen.
