VTCT L2 Certificate in Nail Technology

students need to complete following units:- Health & safety practice in the salon
- Provide and maintain nail enhancement
- Provide manicure treatments
- Client care & communication
- Nail art
Nail Art: The nail art unit will provide you with all of the necessary techniques to create your own stunning nails, you will learn basic, intermediate and advanced techniques from elegant flowers to fashionable foil application to enable you to apply them to natural or enhanced nails.
Practise at home is essential and students will be expected to complete theory home study / read up on notes and research topics in between sessions as well as practice techniques.
To complete the qualification, Health and Safety, Client care and Anatomy & Physiology will be delivered and integrated alongside the units. (Health and safety will only be recapped if doing nails and nail art only no exam necessary)
Your work will be assessed through visual assessments that will be timed, written assignments, by a portfolio of evidence that you will build and multiple-choice exams. You may also need to bring in clients for your assessments and practice.
Students will need to wear a uniform either colleges or their own (if they are already working in industry and have a clean work uniform) and have a kit to be able to take part in practical sessions). Flat/low healed black enclosed footwear is also needed (can be purchased with uniform kit). Long hair will also need to be tied back and a professional appearance in general is expected.

Entry Requirements:
Candidate MUST have completed Manicure either from Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent NOT a basic day course. To have completed previous manicure units the candidate would have also completed Anatomy & Physiology and Health and safety which is absolutely essential (although recapping will still take place).
Students requiring the manicure unit are able to infil into existing L2 Full time course. Please see Nail Technology - Manicure for further details.
Entry criteria to complete the manicure unit: The candidate will need 4 GCSEs or above, no prior experience essential although welcomed!
