The course is aimed at students who want to engage more seriously with working in the creative arts sector or to develop their potential.
You will study a blend of practical, theoretical and experiential subjects. The emphasis is on building your confidence and ability by helping you to develop your skills in making, thinking and
discussing art.
The course is largely practical and is taught by a combination of tutorials, seminars and lectures. Many of the tutors are practising artists who are also active in exhibiting nationally and internationally. The work-based learning elements ensure there is a real engagement with the world of contemporary art practice.
Subjects studied include
2D Processes: exploring a range of 2D media (such as drawing)
3D Processes: exploring a range of media such as sculpture and glass
Work-based learning modules covering curating and exhibiting
Develop Fine Art Practice: developing your individual practice
Professional Studies: a series of lectures with creative sector professionals
Research and Reference and Critical Studies: a written study on a subject related to your interests in art
Assessment occurs at specific points throughout the academic year. Final assessment is in the form of a show that is open to the general public at the end of the programme.

Entry Requirements:
All applicants will be interviewed.You should typically hold an appropriate Level 3 qualification, such as A-Levels including one or more relevant subjects, a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in a relevant subject, or a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
Mature applicants (those over 21 years of age at the start of the course) who may not have formal qualifications are welcomed with a portfolio of artwork.
Career Options:
Students can progress onto the highly regarded BA (Hons) Degree Top-Up also offered by the College.
