The performance of organisations is based on the selection of their people. Selecting the right people for the organisation is one of the most difficult decisions in management. The wrong decision has huge implications - lost time, financial loss, internal and external credibility. One of the greatest truths about people is that "How a person has behaved in the past will give the clearest indication to future behaviours". We are all creatures of habit and our actions are dictated by the behavioural traits we display. The skill of the interviewer is to establish interviewee behaviours and match to organisational needs.

Objectives of the CourseThe course will introduce the delegates to the essential skills needed to correctly identify vacancies, and where necessary re-define the job role. They will be familiarised with, and coached in, the preparation and planning for the interview. There will be an opportunity to learn and practice interviewing techniques including those used for some of the different interviewees that might be encountered.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

- Prepare and plan for interviews
- Understand and use some important interviewing techniques
- Recognise and describe the effects of poor selection
- Appreciate the importance of proper evaluation and understand the methods employed to
achieve the right selection
