The success of any business is dependent upon the communication of ideas, knowledge and information. By taking a systematic approach to the report writing process delegates will create a report structure, regardless of subject matter that communicates relevant facts accurately with a style that is both acceptable and intelligible to the intended target audience. What your report says and how it looks are vital in creating a document with high impact.Objectives of the CourseThis course will focus on developing a professional report structure. Delegates will explore different report formats and styles and appreciate the needs of the target audience.
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Describe the importance of planning within the report writing process
- Explain the most effective ways of handling and collating information
- Evaluate when and where to make use of diagrams, tables and charts
- Compare aspects of good and bad report styles
- Apply variations to the basic report writing format
Course Content
Session 1 - Preparation and Planning : Setting report objectives, assessing the reader, collecting and handling information to prepare the skeletal framework
Session 2 - Writing and Revising the Report: Obtaining information and evaluating findings. Prioritising and testing
Session 3 - A style guide to good report writing
Session 4 - Report presentation skills
