Differences in culture, values and beliefs, whether held by individuals or groups within society are an increasingly influential part of our lives. It is vital to an organisation today to understand the responsibilities of employers together with those of the individual staff members.It is important to be aware of the legal, regulatory and ethical considerations to be made in the light of the changing society in which we live.
Objectives of the Course:
The course will enable delegates to develop an understanding of the issues that contribute to the complex topic of equality and diversity in the workplace and wider community. It is not intended as an in-depth guide to employment legislation, but would be suitable for those recently appointed to an equality and diversity role within an organisation
By the end of the programme participants will be able to:
- Outline the business case for diversity within an organisation
- Discuss the investment required to achieve this and the subsequent benefits
- List recent equality legislation
- Initiate an audit of current provision in an organisation
- Describe methods of moving an organisations culture to inclusion
Course Content:
Session 1 - Mission and vision statements, strategy and tactics
Session 2 - Models to prompt strategic thinking
Session 3 - Models to prompt strategic thinking - bringing it together
Session 4 - Planning implementation
