Sociology A2 Level (OCR)

If you are interested in people and what is happening in British society in general and are prepared for a learning challenge this would be a good course for you. Sociology 'fits' with many other subjects, for example, Psychology, English Literature, English Language, Communication Studies, Law, Citizenship, Government and Politics, History and Media and Film Studies.A2 Sociology has three modules:
1. Power and control
2. Applied sociological research skills
3. Social inequality and difference
Module 1 is assessed by a one-hour exam in January, module 2 is assessed by coursework and involves you designing and piloting a piece of sociological research and module 3 is assessed by a one and a half hour exam in June.
Trips and visits: there are several opportunities to attend national Sociology conferences and organised revision events in London in both the first and second years. There is also an opportunity to visit the University of Kent at Canterbury to meet some 'real life' sociologists and to learn from them how they carry out research and how great it is to be a sociologist!
