The Government & Politics A-Level can be studied as part of the following pathways:

If you are interested in current affairs and enjoy debating topics such as the importance of voting, the role of MPs and the purpose of environmental and activist movements, you will enjoy this subject.

At AS Level you will study:
- Democracy
- Political parties
- Elections
- Pressure groups
- Parliament
- Constitution
- The Prime Minister and Cabinet
- Judges and civil liberties

At A2 Level you will study:
- Liberalism
- Conservatism
- Socialism
- Anarchism
- Nationalism
- Feminism
- Ecologism
- Multiculturalism

For both the AS and A2 Levels you will be assessed through examinations.

Entry Requirements:

For AS Levels you will need five GCSE passes at grades A*-C, including English and maths, as well as one grade B. Other relevant qualifications can be discussed at interview.

If you have grades A and B at GCSE or a strong overall GCSE profile, well encourage you to study four AS courses.

To progress from AS to A2 you are expected to gain at least a grade C in the AS subject studied.
