Duration : 2 yearsThe Health and Social Care Double Award A-Level can be studied as part of the Health pathway and is available at Tonbridge only.
This 12-unit programme is equivalent to 2 A-Levels and can be studied either as a standalone qualification or with an additional A-Level. The course allows students to build skills as well as
technical knowledge and includes:
- Human growth and development
- Communication and values
- Positive care environments
- Social aspects and lifestyle choices
- Activities for health and wellbeing
- Public health
- Meeting individual needs
- Promoting health and wellbeing
- Investigating disease
- Using and understanding research
- Social issues and welfare needs
- Understanding human behaviour
Students will also study either functional skills or the Extended Project and the opportunity to retake GCSE English or maths can also be arranged.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants need five GCSEs (grade A*-C) including English and maths or Level 2 at Distinction. All applicants will be interviewed.All students will be required to undergo a CRB check once enrolled on their course and the outcome may affect work placements.
Career Options:
To progress from AS to A2 you will need to gain at least a grade C in the AS subject studied.This course can be used as entry to a range of higher education courses linked to health and care.
