History AS Level (Edexcel)

You're History! Everything around you is the result of what happened in the past. If you learn from the past you may influence the future.Do you enjoy reading about people in the past? Watching historical drama? Do you watch 'Time Team' or 'Schama's History of England'? Then History AS Level is for you. This is an alternative History course and you do not need to have studied History before - you may even have disliked it and dropped it at school.
This syllabus covers 3 modules for AS
1. Poverty and life in Victorian England 1815 to 1850
2. The French Revolution: Causes, wars and The Terror
3. Exam or coursework: The Road to Parliamentary Reform 1832
Module one is assessed by an examination in January, module 2 is an exam in the following June. Module 3 can be an exam or coursework in June.
Trips and Visits: In the first year we make several visits to museums and historical sites and we visit Paris to study the French Revolution.
Entry Requirements:
To study 3 AS levels, students need at least 5 GCSEs grade C and above, including a B in English. There may be additional subject entry criteria.Career Options:
