Psychology AS Level (OCR)

Psychology is a relatively new subject, little more than one hundred years old. It has changed considerably since its beginning, and is now widely considered to be a scientific subject, as it makes use of scientific methods in investigating human behaviour and thought processes. It is now a very broad subject, and covers all areas of human experience.The syllabus covers 3 modules for AS:
1. Core studies I (an in-depth examination of 20 studies covering the range of psychology)
2. Core studies II (applying the same studies to psychological issues)
3. Practical investigations (using 3 different methods to gather and interpret data)
AS Psychology is assessed by two examined modules and one coursework module. AS examinations take place in June.
You will have the opportunity to attend a Psychology Revision Conference in London during the Spring Term.
Entry Requirements:
To study 3 AS levels, students need at least 5 GCSEs grade C and above, including a B in English. There may be additional subject entry criteria.Career Options:
