English Language & Literature AS Level (AQA)

The advanced study of English Language and Literature looks at the connection between language and literature and how the study of one helps us better understand the other. You will read drama, novels and poetry and will also examine how language is used in everyday context such as conversations.The syllabus covers 3 modules for AS:
1. Language production: you will be required to use source materials to write for a specific audience and purpose
2. Poetic study: you will examine the genre of poetry through the study of prescribed texts
3. Study of the language of prose and speech: you will study one prose text and examine the language of speech.
All modules are assessed by examinations.
Entry Requirements:
To study 3 AS levels, students need at least 5 GCSEs grade C and above, including a B in English. There may be additional subject entry criteria.Career Options:
