Ashford
New drawings received from HNW Architects incorporating suggestions from Ashford Borough Council planners. Internal layouts of where curriculum areas will be situated almost complete.
• Planning permission submission date is June 2011. Decision expected September 2011.
• Permission being sought for demolition of existing buildings (due to H&S issues) on College own property – 28 days notice to be lodged with Ashford Borough Council. Buildings are not listed or situated in the conservation area.
• Acquisition of Kent County Council land adjacent at Elwick Rd– Heads of Terms nearing completion. Signing and purchase of this land is directly linked to access rights agreement at Jemmett Rd and need to be agreed at the same time.
• Design Team – consultants are being appointed through a full OJEU process. Five main categories – Project Managers, Architects, Cost Consultants, Structural Engineers, M& E Consultants. PQQ exercise complete. Selected consultants now preparing their tenders for submission.
• Affordability – reviewing costs of the 10,000sq metres of new build consisting of 8260 sq metres of occupied space and 1740 sq m of unfitted space for future expansion as part of the first phase. Second phase is circa 3960 sq m to provide a total of just under 14000 sq m.
• Public Consultation - held in County Square shopping complex 28th April. Positive feedback with 86 responses received.
• Sale of Jemmett Road – advertised and some initial interest received. KCC now marketing their land so possibility for joint marketing and sale to be discussed.
