A 16 year old Travel and Tourism student from the Dover campus of K College has won the top prize of an iPad 2 in the ‘Go Your Way at K’ competition.
Siona Hucksted, of Mill Hill, Deal, was presented with her prize at the new Cambia building on the Dover campus in Maison Dieu Road, Dover, by the Principal of K College, Bill Fearon.
Siona said she didn’t even remember entering the competition, which was run throughout last summer. There were 1,305 entrants through the K College website, Facebook and postcards at open days and freshers’ fairs. They had to answer the simple question ‘Where are K College’s five campus towns located?’ The winners were picked at random.
Siona said: ‘I couldn’t believe I won it, it is really good and I have downloaded lots of apps already. I got appendicitis while on holiday in Bulgaria at New Year and they wouldn’t allow me to fly back straight after an emergency operation, so this was definitely good news after a bad start to the year.’
The former Walmer Science College pupil says she is sure her new prize will help with her Travel and Tourism studies. She hopes to work in the travel industry when she qualifies.
The runners up who won annual gym membership to Optimise Fitness were Harry Taylor from Folkestone who studies for a Level 3 Diploma in Accounting at the Ashford campus, and Craig Jenner from Tonbridge who is studying for the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts.
