K College Students Music Shows!

The Year 2 Foundation Degree Students, fresh from their two-week field trip in New Orleans, will perform music by The Meters, Jon Cleary, Dr John, etc. Their set has already been performed twice in New Orleans, to great acclaim! They will also talk about their experiences on the trip, and show photos and video footage to illustrate. Highlights can be seen our blog: http://kcollegeneworleans.tumblr.com/

This show will also include Level 3B students performing music taken from the Americana genre (Southern Soul and Funk), and staff performances to be announced.

K College Tonbridge - Access to Music Level 3A Night

Thursday 28th April 7.30pm at Mojo’s Bar, behind Tonbridge Station

Free entry

Music starts 6.30pm – finishes 9pm

This time the Level 3A students deserve their very own night to themselves. The assessed performance of the Core Unit “Live Music Performance” will feature four bands each playing a 30 minute set of musical material they have chosen themselves. The line-up includes a Michael Jackson tribute band, a modern rock band, a funk/ fusion band and a Motown/ Atlantic soul band. The last show, in which they performed punk and new wave material, was of a very high standard, and there were moments of excellence… let’s see if they can raise their game still further!

Basket snacks available at the bar (Chicken/ burger/ scampi and chips).

This atmospheric “happening” might be whacky… as the group have been studying the compositional techniques of John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Terry Riley, Bjork, Eno, Radiohead and other experimental composers of the 20th Century, just about anything could happen. Last year’s group produced pieces based on electronically treated fish tank air filter noises, a miked-up microwave, an electronic drumkit stored up with sounds sampled from around the college, a free interpretation of a graphic score, and an audio-visual performance of the theme tune from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Expect the unexpected, and allow the degree students to transport you out of the ordinary…
