As part of K College’s Healthy Living Month in January, the Student Services team worked with Optimise Fitness to give students at the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells campuses the opportunity to try some of the equipment the gym has to offer, including boxing gloves, rowing machines, stability balls and weights.
Paula Millen, Health and Fitness Manager of Optimise Fitness in Tonbridge, said: "Tunbridge Wells has a fantastic atmosphere and the students were really welcoming and willing to try things out. We are currently working with Student Services to offer future events there."
During the day a competition was held to see who could row 1,000 metres the fastest, an event which always gets students to push themselves more than normal, and this day was no exception. The winner completed the row in a fantastic time of 3.58 minutes and received three-months free membership for Optimise Fitness.
These events have proved so popular that Student Services and Optimise are now running taster sessions regularly at both campuses. Over the coming weeks it is hoped to allow students free access sessions in the gym and to run free taster classes.
The Tunbridge Wells campus, at North Farm, specialises in construction crafts and motor engineering.
