Coffee Shop Celebrates its 1,000th Coffee

The new coffee shop venture at the Folkestone campus reached a major milestone on Thursday 10th February: it sold its 1,000th coffee since opening!
The Foundation in Catering and Hospitality and Level 2 Food and Beverage Service students who run the Coffee Shop sold the coffee to Pastoral Tutor Cherry Crouch.
Ann-Marie Jones, the Learner Manager for Catering and Hospitality at Ashford,
Dover and Folkestone, said: "I am pleased that the Coffee Shop has done so well. It has worked well alongside the students’ qualification and enables them the chance to interact with staff, other students and public in a realistic working environment, which has increased their confidence no end.”
Barista coffee is a growing market all over the world with companies like Costa Coffee looking to recruit staff in all areas of their business. As a department the College has made great links with Connexions and are running Barista Awareness Courses to bring new learners into the College. We are also exploring the possibilities of apprenticeships in the near future.
The College currently offers a barista course in Folkestone for those interested in learning more about making a great cup coffee.
